The most dreaded thing.......

I dread trying to figure out "What's for supper tonight?".  I don't really mind the cooking part, but I do mind trying to figure out WHAT TO COOK!!!  Anyone got any ideas?

Two years......

Two years ago this afternoon, we lost the "life to our party", Uncle Edward!  I often read back over some of the emails that I sent out during the weeks he stayed in the hospital.  I remember being so hopeful that he would make a turn for the better.....I guess that wasn't the good Lord's plan.  I thought I would share a few emails.

I would also like to point out that yesterday was the day that Brother Eddie Braswell met with Edward and made sure that he believed in the Savior.  I know that Edward is looking down on us today.....probably frying some shrimp and having a cocktail or two.

Hey Everyone!

Not sure how much everyone knows, but Edward Massey was taken to Phoebe yesterday bc he couldn't breathe.  After a day with many ups and downs and not very good odds, he lived through the night.  AMEN!!!  He went down for a CT scan last night and took a turn for the worse.  He was intubated (put him on a ventilator bc he stopped breathing) about 7:45 last night and was VERY critical.  According to the doctor, Palazola (lung doc), he made a 60% chance to live through last night!!!!!  We have overcome that and made to see daylight again!

Family that is there seems to think he is stronger today than he was yesterday.  Dr. Mitchell (heart doc) is going to be his cardiologist.  He has been by and ordered a heart cath.  He wants to know how much damage there is and if he can he says he will do a cath.  Dr. Mitchell believes he is stable enough to undergo the cath.  Which is very different from what we heard last night.

So please lift up Edward in your prayers.  Pray that Dr. Mitchell will be successful during the cath and find what it is that needs to be fixed.  Pray also that Dr. P will be able to treat his breathing problems.  Pray for Dona...she is taking this extremely hard.  Pray for Brian and Mark!  Yesterday was a VERY EMOTIONAL day for everyone that loves Edward!!  So just pray!!

Thanks!
Sherrer

Latest news is that the CT scan they did last night shows NO signs of a stroke!!  They are getting ready for the spinal tap, but those results aren't expected to be in until tomorrow.

He was able to mouth I love you to Dona and the boys!!!  :)

And I am trying to make it where I am not emailing you constantly, but I also want the news to be timely.  Please forward to anyone that you know if concerned!

Thanks for your prayers!!
Sherrer

Sorry there hasn't been an update all day.  There isn't much news.  Dr. P (lung doc) spoke with Dona this morning.  The H1N1 test came back negative.  He reminded Dona that Edward is not out of the woods yet, but he is continuing to improve!!  (Remember any day that isn't a bad or backwards day is a good day!)  They changed his vent again last night so that he would rest easier and this morning they put it back on CPAP mode.  Today he has been more sedated than yesterday, because he gets so restless and aggravated.  He wants to be able to talk and move around.  So I think there hasn't been much traffic in and out of his room today.

One other thing....if anyone heard that "if he lived, he wouldn't be okay physically or mentally" that is WRONG!  No doctor has told us that.  I think there must have been some misunderstanding and some information got turned around.  Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts!  I will try and update again tomorrow!

Party Chicken

Here is a recipe that I cooked last night.  I have cooked this several times.....it is quick and easy!!

These are all the ingredients you will need, minus the 3 tbsp of butter.

Salt and pepper your chicken cutlets and then coat in plain flour.

Stir together one can of cream of chicken soup with a 1/2 cup of mayo.

In a separate bowl, combine butter and panko bread crumbs...mixture should be crumbly.
Then add one cup of sharp cheese.

Place your flour coated cutlets in a greased baking dish.

Cover with soup mixture.

Top with bread crumb mixture.

The final product!!  Yummy!  If you try, let me know what you think.

**I have cooked this many times with regular bread crumbs, I don't use quite as much as the recipe calls for, but it is just as delicious.

Here is the link to the full recipe, from Publix Apron Meals.  http://www.publix.com/aprons/meals/MainDish/SimpleMeal.do?mealId=3169&mealGroupId=1005

Rusty Bucket Art Class

The Rusty Bucket is hosting another great reason to get out of the house without your husband/child(ren) class May 17th and May 18th.  This time you will be able to paint a terracotta pot....which will be perfect for displaying a few summer flowers.  The class is $30 and requires you to mail a $10 deposit to hold your spot.   I am sure Lindsey will have Mimosa's and light appetizers again.   Here are a few pictures from the magnetic chalk board class that mom and I participated in.

Magnets we made for our boards!

They have the prettiest planters made out of the neatest stuff.....

You get to sit in this cute gas station parking lot

And most importantly you get to drink something like this and enjoy the scenery....

Hope to see you there.....I am going Thursday night....who is going with me???

Welcome.....to my sounding board, recipe collection, ideas, memories, and anything else I feel like posting about blog.  Writing a blog has been on my mind for a little over a year and you would think that in that year I would have come up with a better name than just Sherrer Jill.  It needs something else on the end of it, so I am gladly taking suggestions.  I have no idea what I will be posting about on a regular basis, however, I am sure it will include plenty of pictures of Sam, new (and old) recipes that I have tried or have been thinking about trying, Relay for Life, family and trips.  I can't promise that you won't be bored, but you are not required to read!  Thanks for stopping by and please come back again!!!
